Guitarist Andy Wood, initiator/organizer of the upcoming Woodshed Guitar Experience where Steve will be an instructor, ended up sitting in with the Dregs at their recent show in Nashville TN. Even though Andy is a fan, and Steve will be at Andy’s guitar camp, Andy and Steve had not met before. So this was a special thing to happen.
Andy commented about this amazing experience: “Last night was truly one for the books. I, like so many in Nashville, had got a ticket to go see Steve Morse and the Dixie Dregs. On top of that my buddy Jordan Rudess was doing the keyboard duties, no way am I missing it! My friend Joe W had scored second row, I was pumped! But 30-40 minutes before show time I get a call from the tour manager saying, “Hey the guys wanna jam with you”. I was floored, I grew up learning and listening to Steve Morse Band and the Dregs.
So off we went on an impromptu jam of Crossroads, I played Steve’s guitar into his extra amp with no effects… what an experience! Thanks Steve, Dave, Jordan and the rest of the guys for making me feel so welcome. What a night! Thanks for an amazing show, so much beautiful music and a lifetime of inspiration, Steve you are truly one of the greatest to ever play.” Photos, footage and more about how this came about and how it was in the video below.
Steve will be at Andy’s Woodshed Guitar Experience in Crossville TN next September.
